The experience

At a glance.

This route starts north of Nairobi, crossing the equator near Nanyuki to reach Ol Pejeta Conservancy, home to a rhino conservation programme and the Sweetwaters Chimpanzee Sanctuary.

From Ol Pejeta you travel via Nyahururu and Thomson's Falls to Lake Nakuru National Park, then on to the Maasai Mara for a full day in the reserve.

    Day 1 / Nairobi → Ol Pejeta Conservancy

    Across the equator

    Drive north via Thika, Karatina and Nanyuki, stopping at the equator. At Ol Pejeta, visit the Sweetwaters Chimpanzee Sanctuary and go on an afternoon game drive, including the conservancy's rhino area.

    Day 2 / Ol Pejeta → Lake Nakuru

    Thomson's Falls to Nakuru

    Leave Ol Pejeta via Nyahururu and Thomson's Falls, then the Subukia viewpoint, reaching Lake Nakuru National Park around midday. Spend the afternoon at the lakeshore and the rhino sanctuary.
