Photography Safaris

Photography rewards time: early starts, late finishes and patience at a sighting. These itineraries spend longer in each park.

A private vehicle makes a big difference for photographers, so ask us about private options.

Things to consider

Is this the right fit?

  • Light

Early mornings and late afternoons give the best light.

  • Vehicles

Pop-up roofs give a stable shooting platform; a private vehicle gives flexibility.

  • Dust and protection

Bring a dust cover or a bag for your camera, especially in Amboseli and Tsavo in the dry season.

Useful answers

Questions travellers ask.

Do I need special equipment?

No. A camera with a zoom lens is plenty; binoculars help everyone.

Which safaris suit photographers best?

Longer stays in one area and a private vehicle help most, because you can wait for the light and stay with a sighting.
