The experience

At a glance.

Meru National Park lies on the eastern side of Mount Kenya, where the land drops towards dry country cut by rivers. It sees far fewer vehicles than the Mara, which gives game drives a quieter, wilder feel.

The route drives north via Thika, Nyeri and Meru town. A full day in the park includes Adamson's Falls and the area associated with George and Joy Adamson, whose story inspired Born Free.
