The experience
A busy but rewarding route for travellers who want Kenya's highlights in under a week. You spend two nights in the Maasai Mara, then cross the Rift Valley to Lake Nakuru National Park.
Day four is a long travel day via Nairobi to Amboseli, and the final morning is a game drive across Amboseli's plains and swamps before returning to Nairobi.

Day 1 / Nairobi → Maasai Mara
Leave Nairobi in the morning and stop at the Great Rift Valley viewpoint before continuing through Narok to the Maasai Mara. Check in for lunch and a short rest, then head out on an evening game drive.
Day 2 / Maasai Mara National Reserve
Eight hours in the reserve with a picnic lunch, including the Mara River area. In the evening, take an optional Maasai village visit or relax at the lodge.
Day 3 / Maasai Mara → Lake Nakuru
A sunrise game drive, breakfast and the drive to Lake Nakuru, with an optional boat ride at Lake Naivasha. Enter the park in the early evening for a game drive to the lodge.
Day 4 / Lake Nakuru → Nairobi → Amboseli
A short morning game drive at Nakuru, then the long drive via Nairobi to Amboseli, arriving for an evening game drive.
Day 5 / Amboseli → Nairobi
About six hours in Amboseli, covering the plains, the viewpoint and the swamps where elephants feed. Lunch at the lodge, then drive back to Nairobi.
